Nick Clegg visits The Mix

Former Liberal Democrat leader and current MP for Sheffield Hallam, Nick Clegg, visited our service hub to discuss issues affecting the mental health of young people under 25.

Over the course of the past year, 11% of those who’ve contacted the service from Sheffield have reported issues relating to their mental health whilst another 11% were self-harming.

After his visit, Nick Clegg stated, “It was really insightful to hear and see first-hand the mental health support Get Connected / YouthNet provide for under 25s through their multiple services. Their combination of digital, helpline and counselling services gives young people in Sheffield that early intervention they urgently need to support their problems.”

CEO of YouthNet/Get Connected, Chris Martin, says: “We have seen an alarming rise in mental health issues in under 25s and this is reflected by the experiences of young people in Sheffield. This visit was a chance to discuss how our digital and helpline services might effectively be used to support young people seeking help who have nowhere else to turn.”
