For me, music is like poetry. Lyrics flow through my mind and evoke emotions in my heart, then burst from my tongue. A friend once told me they never pay much attention to the lyrics of a song, which I can't understand. Ignoring song lyrics is like ignoring someone right in front you who's trying to speak. It's a blessed form of communication. I can't begin to describe how I feel when I listen to a song with lyrics I really relate to - about love, hate, relationships, break-ups, life, death, politics. Lyrics can pin-point a memory and describe the feeling of being in that moment so perfectly.

The songs on this playlist have lyrics that really mean something to me. A couple of the songs don't have lyrics but they're poetic in their own right, and they encourage me to remember the words to my own story.

This all sounds terribly cliched and cheesy, but I have a feeling you know exactly what I'm talking about. Don't you?
