J and I
A story in songs of one couple's relationship, and the tough decisions they have ahead.

These songs, to me, are the story of my current relationship. We met at school, beginning slowly after being hurt by other people (Near To You), then going into that blissful honeymoon phase (Lighthouse - the excitement/willingness to do anything, Little Things Mean A Lot - Little things like those in the song mean a lot to her), then settling into the patterns of something more long term, committing to each other. (How Long Will I Love You) Soon J was thinking about a life together, rings, white dresses, the lot, I was thinking, is that what I want? (Thinking Over) Do I want to commit myself for the rest of my life before my life has really started? Can I do this with someone who doesn't want the life I want, who doesn't have the same dreams or any dreams at all apart from of me? I've realised that we can't do forever, we can't make each other happy, she doesn't (Where I Stood). I still care about her, which is probably why I can't walk away. If we keep going until we can't anymore, everything we had will literally go up in flames (Broken Strings). It will break her heart. I've never had anyone's heart to break before, I don't know how, I never wanted to be that guy. The music helps me make these decisions, don't know what I'd do without it, so yeah that's me, for what it's worth.
