Support for all body issues

Most of us will have issues with body image from time to time, but these days the way we consume media can really exacerbate this. If you worry about your appearance so much that it’s disrupting your life, you might have Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). This can lead to problems with food or you might become withdrawn from society. Getting Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can be a great way to get out of negative thought patterns about your body. Your GP should be able to refer you to an appropriate specialist.

How to get healthy

You may have heard that a balanced diet and getting fit is a sure-fire method to improve your mental and physical health, but that’s easier said than done. Building up good habits comes with practise, and starting with small steps that you add to over time can really help you stay on the right track. If you’ve never been to the gym, for example, and you suddenly decide to go three times a week for two hours at a time, there’s a good chance you’ll find that difficult to keep up. However, if you start by committing to a couple of half hour sessions a week, that might be something you can build on over time.

Dealing with disability

Of course, we all exist on a wide spectrum when it comes to our bodies, and for those of us with disabilities, certain things other people take for granted aren’t so straightforward. In this information hub you’ll also find all sorts of articles on everything from using public transport with a disability to how disability can impact sexual confidence.
