Lane is finally born

Trying to spread positivity with my gender story

I started doubting my gender in 2014. I'd met plenty of transgender people but I never saw myself as transgender. I remember going through puberty was hell. I didn't want any of what was happening to me but I always thought I was just being silly, so I ignored what I was feeling. But sure enough the feeling came back a few years later; as soon as I hit my teens, it became one whole confusing mess and after two years I couldn't take it anymore. I told my youth worker who took me a gender group which really helped. Soon after that I decided to come out on my birthday which was a turning point for me. It was like being reborn as the real me, and a bunch of weight was lifted off my shoulders. I've barely begun and I'm already feeling a hundred times happier. My honest advice is to just do you! Don't worry about whether you're "masculine" or "feminine" enough, or on how others will feel. If you're happy then that's all that matters. I believe one day we will get equality but until then you keep being you - no matter what people have to say x
