Nike's Running app
Running - it's good for the body and for the mind as well (just read Murakami's 'What I Talk About When I Talk About Running' if you’re not convinced). But sometimes you need a bit of Tech-spiration to help you get geared-up for those cold mornings runs. Introducing the Nike app.

Nike's app is available on iOS and Android
I’m a team sports kind of person. I love the competitive nature of football, rugby – and even one-on-one sports like badminton and tennis. But these sports are pricey, so I needed another option.
So… Running. Everyone does running…
It’s cheap. You can do it straight away. BUT how can you make it more fun and interesting. And how can you add some kind of interesting competitive edge to it? That’s where tech comes in.
Nike’s running app is free (if you don’t pay for all the unnecessary additional features), it’s uncomplicated, it links with all your music (essential) and tracks your daily runs - measuring your pace and distance – and it tells you how you’ve done compared with previous outings. So you end up being able to compete against yourself. And as i'm not a massive fan of myself, i take it really seriously - "Ha! Take that Ollie!!"
The syncing with your own music (Spotify, itunes etc) is a god-send – it can also find tracks to match your pace – handy (Quick tip: Never run to jazz music, it really cocks-up your pace). It has a few basic, to more advanced, training guides and, if you like that sort of thing, you can set it to give you voice messages full of motivation when you reach certain running milestones (like a km, your last km or your half way point).
There are loads of these types of apps on the market – with an array of setting, so complicated they would require an astronaut like Tim Peake’s to control them. So if you’re looking for an app that does all the basics well, and doesn’t over complicate things – I’d say this is it.
Great for the novices to intermediate runners, who don’t like running.
