On the evening of 14th of June, media industry heavyweights – including Facebook, Yahoo and News UK – came together and raised £50,640 for youth charity The Mix. 160 of the media industry’s finest, pitted their wits against one-and-other at the 4th annual Get Qu?zzical event.

Get Qu?zzical is an interactive quiz night sponsored by media marketing and digital agencies m/SIX and Rocket Fuel. In its fourth year, the event brings together top creative, PR and news agencies for charity. Comedian Rory McGrath hosted the event at London hotspot Sway Bar, where teams went head-to-head with the support of quiz champions including The Chase’s Anne Hegerty, Egghead’s David Rainford and 2014 Mastermind winner Clive Dunning.

Funds raised from the event will support The Mix’s growing UK service, which helps vulnerable children and young people find support with issues as varied as self-harm, sexual health, homelessness and unemployment. The donation will go towards helping the charity reach an additional 330,000 to support 2 million young people in the next 12 months – a quarter of all young people living in the UK.

Chris Martin, CEO at The Mix, says: “Last night’s event was a great success – we are thrilled, and would like thank everyone who supported the evening and made it such a success. We have one aim to help our young people live better lives and with the help of the media industry, we are one step closer to reaching our goal.

Jess Burley, CEO of m/SIX and The Mix Trustee, says: “It’s truly fantastic that so many people have got behind this event to support The Mix. Our collective fundraising efforts will make a huge difference to the charity, enabling them to raise awareness of their vital help service so that they can support thousands more young people in need. It is undoubtedly a tough world for those starting out in life today, but together, we can ensure that The Mix is there for them, whenever they need help.”

Andy McNab, UK Managing Director at Rocket Fuel says: “What a fantastic event! A great time was had by all and we managed to raise a significant amount of money for such a deserving charity, helping young people across the UK. Jess and her team at m/SIX have done a great job at both raising awareness and much needed funds for The Mix. I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who participated in this event.”

Notes to editors:

The Mix (formerly YouthNet and Get Connected) offers multi-issue support to young people under 25. Reaching 1.8 million young people per year, we provide non-judgmental, informal support for any issue a young person might come up against.

Our new charity aims to reach 2 million young people by 2018; reaching 1 in 4 of the UK’s population of 16-25 year olds.

Young people’s lives can be a challenging mix of highs and lows. Their issues are emotional and intertwined and there is seldom a simple answer when they have a problem.

A ‘one size fits all’ solution isn’t going to cut it. Today’s young people are more complex and connected than any generation before them.  They need a blended service delivered on their own terms and through the technology of their choice – that’s where The Mix comes in.

The Mix is a free, confidential support service offering help through phone, text, web, social and counselling. The Mix connects young people to experts and their peers talking about everything from money to exam stress, from self-harm to depression, from break-ups to drugs.

Whatever issue a young person is facing, The Mix is always there for them, providing help, information and support – 24/7 and 365 days a year.
